Résumé
Anna Halgrimsdóttir est une poétesse islandaise qui vit à Reykjavik avec ses deux fils. Lassée du froid islandais, elle décide de vendre son commerce afin de quitter l'île.Son commerce-la vente de marijuana-est plus que prospère, aussi veut-elle en obtenir un bon prix. Le « repreneur » auquel elle va céder son téléphone portable - objet magique sur lequel tous ses clients l'appellent - lui demande 48 heures pour rassembler l'argent.
Pendant ces 48 heures,Anna va se trouver entraînée dans tout un tas d'histoires ô combien islandaises ponctuées de rencontres inattendues et loufoques : une jeune auto-stoppeuse irlandaise folle de Dieu, un vague cousin dépressif, un étudiant français fan d'elle et une oie qui sonne.Alors qu'elle sillonne l'île d'un bout à l'autre, sa cuisine se transforme en salle d'attente où ses clients, de plus en plus nombreux, attendent son retour dans une cohabitation un peu surréaliste.

Construit autour d'un personnage et de son interprète, cette comédie d'une grande fantaisie enchaîne les péripéties cocasses. Plaisante fiction, elle se révèle aussi une fidèle et attrayante carte postale de la scène artistique islandaise.
Back Soon est considéré unanimement comme un film « gorgé d'absurdités hilarantes, d'apartés secouantes sur les beautés un poil exténuantes de la terre d'Islande, de visions enschnoufées, et surtout peuplé d'une palanquée de marginaux locaux, zozos encourageants d'humanité. » (Libération).
La presse s'est laissé prendre « par la tonalité fantaisiste, farfelue, voire totalement déjantée de Back soon, film vraiment drôle, savoureux, sympathiques"(Les Inrockuptibles)Nombreux ont été les critiques à souligner la performance de Didda Jonsdottir, « sacrée bonne femme, poétesse et éboueuse dans la vraie vie » (Télérama), définie par Les Inrockuptibles comme « un genre de Nicole Garcia qui aurait le tempérament de Pénélope Cruz, la sensibilité de Catherine Millet et la défroque d'un vieux rocker endurci ». (Pauv' con !!)
On a reproché en revanche au film son caractère de «road-movie en circuit fermé où le voyage est fait d'incessants allers-retours"(Le Monde)"Tantôt coolissime, tantôt rugueux, il chemine en zigazaguant, zigzaguant libre comme l'air polaire"(Télérama) mais « met un brin de temps à se mettre en place » (Les Inrockuptibles)

Nice warm comedy

This is a must seen !
Is a simple comedy with very believable characters, even if the story seems unreal : Anna works as a (succesfull)dealer in Reykyavik, but decides to sell everything in order to leave the island with her two sons... but a series of funny and incredible situations stars at the moment went she thinks she finally close her deal.
This film is full of poetry, like Anna (who also is a poet in her "lost" time). As well, lots of self-mockery, making fun of the Icelandic world : islander mentality, Nordic clichés, etc.Sometimes, you can find beauty where nobody would stare at. Nice comedy to see it... and if you did, see it again ! Thanks and don't let me be misunderstood

This is an example of how a low budget movie can be refreshing and original! The story evolves around a woman, whose main profession is to roll joints for people who are too busy to do it by themselves, but she decides to give up her business and go to the South with her 2 sons. Many funny things take place while she's trying to do so, and her clients, who are politicians, doctors, musicians etc are so dependent on her, that go to her place to wait for her, and end up having a magnificent party! I enjoyed it all along, it was really funny and with a great main character, whose eccentric personality overwhelmed the whole film! The melancholy of the Icelandic landscape is the only negative feeling I had at the end. But the story and the characters 'stayed with me' long after the movie. I definitely suggest it!!
It's a light comedy and the Icelandic landscapes are stunning. Both points have little connection, still why not put them together if they were going to shoot it there? For all those tourists that only go to the Blue Lagoon, it may be interesting but adds nothing to the comedy (more than that landscapes dissolve the warm feeling created by the ensemble cast).
All in all Back Soon lacks comedic twists and turns. It's a feel-good movie that relishes in its own thin storyline. It drags its feet more often than not, but on the whole the comic tone is fine and makes it an OK movie if you don't expect too much.
