    Another Scott Masterpiece

    10/10

What a brilliant movie. Each movie Tony Scott produces builds on the experience of the previous, and this one is no exception.Unlike the previous commentator, I didn't know Domino Harvey personally so I can't make any assertions as to it being a fitting tribute to her or not. I can only speak on the film as is. This one is quite light hearted compared with say Man On Fire, and you'll split yourself laughing as characters and scene's unfold.

The movie, like all of Scotts is very high paced, and would hold the attention of the most severely profound case of ADHD. No time is wasted on point extraction, if you want that kind of detail, look for Peter Jackson movies and prepare to be bored senseless.I became a fan of Tony Scott movies after watching Spy Game, and concluded it was the best movie I'd ever seen, until I saw Man on Fire... and then concluded the same until I've seen this. It just gets better and better.

If I had one criticism it would be the cross over in soundtracks from Man On Fire. Thats just me I guess, sound means a lot to me and triggers a lot of things for me. Actor/Character selection was excellent. If you liked Spy Game & Man on Fire, then get this movie, it will not disappoint.

Almost as good as True Romance

Based on a true story...sort of. What a great movie. Soundtrack is perfect, plot is good, direction interesting, but let's face it what really matters are the characters. It's all about the characters and this movie is packed full of fully developed, incredibly intriguing characters who are expertly portrayed by a flawless cast. Not saying there are no plot holes, it's not as perfectly polished as Momento (another great movie) but close enough. The truth is I could have just watched these characters take a walk through a mall and been entertained. Edger Ramirez is an actor I'll be looking forward to seeing again. I can't believe I missed this one on big screen!! 10/10, this is a must see and I can't wait for the deleted/alternate scenes on the DVD (already out, but I don't have it yet!)

    Awesome!

I have to give this show a 10. My husband was an extra in this show in Vegas. i actually got to meet Ian Zering and Keira. if you watch the movie you will see him walk in front of the cab parked in valet. he looks at Keira and she at him. Also he is sitting in the bar. it has a lot of very good action scenes. And very interesting when Domino gets to tell her life story. I like this movie because there is a mixture of suspense and a whole lot of action. I think keira Knightly did a bang up job in this movie"literally". I like her acting bette4r in this movie as "Domino" than on pirates. She is a very good actress with multi talents.

Edgar is such a hottie!!! Good choice getting a snuggle with Meena. Domino makes me want to get mixed up in the bounty hunting business! Edgar can visit Charlotte, anytime. My husband and I loved the romantic base of the plot, and the girl with guns thing. Any girl with guns on film is a bank. I would have liked to see more of Blue, it may have been worth the extra budget to include him. I would love to know any other projects Edgar is involved in. Mickey looks better on film than in those premier photos. I loved the scene with the real Domino at the end!!! I can see why the liberty with the 'sort of' may have irked her. She should have signed more creative control. Alf the Afgan was an endearing character. I especially love his passion for bombs as a kid. There are some of us still left than remember the cat eating alien, and liked him.

This is directed at sweatpea2030. DOMINO WAS GREAT!!! Angi J. would not have done this role better or looked better doing it. You obviously have no clue what acting skillz are and maybe should keep your mouth shut about stuff that isn't really the issue. Your issue with the movie is that you are jealous that your BF finds Keira HOT! And guess what, she is. And she's a fine actor, and the movie roxx! Great depiction of Dominos' story. I would guess that you are either overweight, or you fill you body with things that aren't natural to make yourself look better. Angi is a home-wrecker and hasn't done a good movie since Gia. Talk about a bad actor. LOL! I hope your BF finds himself a Keira look-alike and leaves you at the alter. For those of you who haven't seen the movie, rent it and don't go by the rating on IMDb, it's a very low score for a great movie. The critic should take another look at it because he is usually dead on to my taste.

I always enjoy a movie that has my home theater audio "lit up"! This one is in DTS DISCRETE 6.1 and DOMINO brings a new level of involvement...the gritty music track and and full feeling of the recoil of every shot fired had me replaying favorite scenes over and over.Storyline was choppy but that's what kept my attention. The humor was spontaneous and I have previewed favorite scenes to friends who immediately went a got their own copy.If your significant other is not into "crank it up" send them out shopping and ENJOY! This movie is a great escape and I hope Mr. Scott is hard at work on his next project. I'm in!

    What a film

What a film, from the opening credits till the end, energy, action and class! The film is superb, a future classic. The director Tony Scott has had his ups and downs but this is on par with True Romance, and goes to show you don't need huge computer generated special effects to make a good film ( War of the Worlds take note!). The cast is brilliant, Mickey Rourke must be having the time of his life with Sin City and Domino, and Keira Knightley shows she can play roles other than the clean rich girl! The cinematography is superb without looking over polished, and the sound track is top notch. A great film a must watch.More films like this please!!!

The movie is an true masterpiece, every single moment of the film is exiting. The plot is really good, and the fact that it is based on a true story does it even better. It is a really interesting story that give you a lot to think about. You will laugh and you will cry during, this one of a decade movie. Keira Knightley is so fabulous and heavenly beautiful and so is the rest of the crew to. The characters and the surroundings are amazing, and there is not a dead second in this movie. This is the best action movie this year, even better than the also great "Sin city".Go see the movie now, I will definitely see it on one more time on cinema.

"It's all the Tony Scott you could possibly want in a Tony Scott movie!"

An interesting story of a privileged young lady, who walked away from glamor for a continuous life threatening adrenaline rush.Framed by a seductive interrogation by Lucy Liu and her prisoner Keira Knightley, the story of Domino Harvey unfolds. "My name is Domino Harvey. I am a bounty hunter. You're probably wondering how a girl like me arrived here. What I say will determine whether or not I spend the rest of my life in prison. Let's start at the beginning."

At first this seems like an old storyline. We've seen this all before but it was a male F.B.I. agent and a male suspect. While this fast paced quasi music video is not very different from the average action flick, it offers far too much to be written off as a bad movie. Those diffrences from the normal formula are refreshing. Not just another escapist movie and not just another of the new breed of female action heroes.

A movie that isn't about hero encounters villain, hero tries but fails to stop villain, villain takes revenge but hero survives and mourns his girlfriend who did not survive the attack, hero than takes out all of villains associates one by one, finding a new girlfriend in the processes and drops the bad guy off a building in the end.

This movie has gotten a bum rap. This movie has a tad of sociology going on. It may not have scored a ten but the story unfolds in a fashion that is interesting, just a little bit more than fun, guns and exploding buses. It may not hold any real redeeming social values or qualify as an "Art Action Film" but it makes for a nice blend between serious movies and a fun romp.

No it is not the best film but it has its moments. Maybe it's all about the eye candy. There are far better action movies and much more extreme adrenaline rushes than this movie. But it gets a lot of points for looking a little different from the rest. The camera work may seem tired to someone who watches too much MTV but compared to its genre, it is new a different. Those slamming takes from one odd camera angle to the next improve the pace.

Definitely, worth a trip to the multiplex! There is a great deal of crash, boom, bash and a different look at the seedy side of Southern California. There are fun performances from Mickey Rourke and Delroy Lindo. The stereotype of employees of the Department of Motor Vehicles was a humorous reminder of the real world.

It seems that Domino has become the movie that everyone loves to hate. A status that belonged to "Natural Born Killers" when it came out. Richard Kelly who also wrote "Donnie Darko" may have given us another cult classic.

"This is based on a true story ... sort of". The parts that are true are amazing enough. This is not a fresh new approach to biography. Jazzing up a script to sell more tickets is common. But the fact that she choose such a life is worthy of some plot enhancements for the sake of entertainment. That's may be all this movie is. A little bit of entertainment. The Jerry Springer segment alone is worth the price of admission.

    See it!!

Tony Scott has done it again. Pushed the envelope. The only good review I could find was in the New York Times...this tells you a lot about how far ahead TS is. Of course all the people who liked all those DVDs you hated yourself for sitting through hated Domino. These are the same people that hated Man on Fire or Revenge. The new levels of technique Mr. Scott has been trying out have bothered many film goers. However, ask yourself how many directors and studios are cranking out product that is completely middle of the road and presents absolutely no challenge to the audience. I certainly think there is much more room for the major budget film industry to take risks and give the audience some choices and challenges. I would hate to see these efforts dampened by bean counters!

    Trivia

The first words heard in the film, "Heads, you live. Tails, you die.", are spoken by the real life Domino Harvey.
    *
Domino Harvey died from an accidental overdose of fentanyl on 27 June 2005, months before the release of the film, which was subsequently dedicated to her. Tony Scott and Mickey Rourke were among the people who attended her funeral.
    *
Jacqueline Bisset, who plays Domino's mother (renamed Sophie Wynn in the film), actually knew Domino Harvey's real life mother Paulene Stone. They knew each other from their time as models and had worked together.

    *
Thanks to Gusmano Cesaretti, Michael Mann's regular collaborator, Tony Scott managed to get on screen real-life gang bangers from 18th Street Gang in East Los Angeles.
    *
Mickey Rourke initially turned down the role of Ed as he felt the script was weak and wanted to take part in Guy Ritchie's Revolver (2005), which was shooting at the same time. However, he gave in when director Tony Scott re-wrote the part with Rourke specifically in mind.
    *
Édgar Ramírez wanted to meet Gerard Quiocho, the real life 'Choco', but according to Ramírez, Tony Scott had mistakenly been told that Quiocho was dead. Scott later found out through Domino Harvey that Quiocho was alive.
    *
The scene where Domino, Ed, and Choco are standing outside Claremont's office with their guns is a reference to a photo of Domino Harvey and Ed Martinez outside Celes King III's office, that was in the newspaper article where Tony Scott first heard about Domino. The photo was also printed on the cover page of all drafts of the film's shooting script.

During filming of the scene where Domino is firing two machine guns, one of the blank shells, which were hot, hit Keira Knightley on the neck, and stuck, giving her second-degree burns.
    *
For Domino's Reality TV Show in the movie, the producers created a promo poster of the three hunters with Domino on the far right. Domino's mother said they'd only go for it if Domino was in the center. The final movie poster is the same as the reality poster, with Domino in the center.
    *
Mickey Rourke's character, Ed Moseby, is based on real-life bounty hunter Ed Martinez, while Delroy Lindo's character, Claremont Williams III, is based on real-life bail-bondsman Celes King III, Domino Harvey's real boss. Both men were used as technical advisors on the film.
    *
The rights to Domino Harvey's life story was secured at the price of $500K.
    *
Richard Kelly's script included notes on the intended title sequence. It would have involved the camera following a trail of falling dominos along several southern California roads. As the dominos fall, they would spell out the credits. The last domino would fall and land at the base of the Stratosphere. In a script review for Aint It Cool News, the title sequence was singled out as one of the creative highlights. Ultimately budget concerns forced a more conventional title sequence to be created.
    *
Tony Scott claimed that the frenetic filming and editing style of the picture is reflective of the high usage of cocaine amongst real bounty hunters he consulted while researching the film.
    *
The character of Alf was inspired by the real life driver of Domino Harvey, Ed Martinez and Choco. According to Harvey, he was a man from Afghanistan whom they referred to as 'The Afghani' as they could not pronounce his name.
    *
Ed, Choco, and Domino use Vietnam War era flak jackets. These were notorious among combat troops for providing very little if any, actual protection from small arms fire.
    *
The word "fuck" and all of its derivatives are said 123 times in the movie.

    *
Tony Scott met Domino ten years previously to make a movie of her life but only nailed the script when Richard Kelly came on board in 2002, creating the whole DMV plot to tie everything together.
    *
Multiple key off-screen lines of dialog are actually voiced by picture editor Tony Ciccone. Ciccone recorded the lines while editing in post production. Director Tony Scott was impressed enough with the performances of the one-time actor to keep them in the final film.
    *
Tony Scott first heard about Domino Harvey when his business manager Neville Shulman sent him an article about her from the British newspaper 'The Mail on Sunday'.
    *
Tony Scott first thought of Keira Knightley for the role of Domino after seeing her in Pirates des Caraïbes - La malédiction du Black Pearl (2003).
    *
The inspiration for Domino's goldfish Sammy came from actress Dakota Fanning, who told Tony Scott during the making of Man on Fire (2004) about her goldfish who had died.
    *
Ron Jeremy appeared in one scene as a bail jumping drug dealer who was chased by Domino and Ed, but was cut from the film.
    *
At one point in the 1990s, Sharon Stone was attached to play Domino.
    *
During the lengthy development period, Tony Scott commissioned several script drafts from Pulp Fiction (1994) coauthor Roger Avary. When Richard Kelly was brought on board, he discarded all prior drafts and started from scratch. None of Avary's material made it to the final film.
    *
According to Tony Scott on the commentary, he utilized Michael Mann's clout to cast the gang members seen early in the film as well as advice in using digital cameras.
    *
Richard Kelly was asked to write the screenplay after Tony Scott read the script for Southland Tales (2006).
    *
Charles Paraventi originally auditioned for the role of Raul Chavez. Tony Scott did not think he was right for the part and instead cast him as Howie Stein.
    *
Tony Scott came up with the idea to set the climax of the film at the Stratosphere tower after shooting Beat the Devil (2002) in Las Vegas.
    *
Amanda Foreman played a college counselor but was cut from the film. Her scene is among the deleted scenes included on the DVD.
