    Really good action movie

    10/10

I really liked this movie. It has a lot of twists and turns in the plot, but none too obvious and too script convenient. I think Gina Carano did a very good job and will definitely watch out for her movies. I like the reality feel of the fight scenes and the tempo of the movie. I would very much like to see a sequel to this one. It would be interesting to see Gina's character evolve furthermore. It's good to see a tough female action character, and knowing what she can do in real life mixed martial art battles makes her character even more convincing. The character that Gina Carano plays in this movie is very focused and professional (as she should be in this kind of job). All in all I think it is very entertaining and all the characters are well played.

This film is amazing, Antonio Bandaras at first I didn't even notice him. He still looked hot. Now Gina Carano, I don't know if there was stunt girls perhaps but look out Jolie! Gina is wonder woman. I mean I loved the action shots, the fights she moved like crazy oh my god! The way it was shot the scenes just amazing, all you see is hit, punch hit punch hit kick, flips! The driving scene was also crazy, I was on my toes the entire time. I am not lying when I am saying trust me ladies watch this film. Its not just for men targets , its exiting and engaging story. Plus it is funny too. It has comedic moments that I am sure in shock value the words that will come out of your mouth are : Haywire Oh my god! Love it!

If you like agent thrillers this one hits bull's eye! It's not so much the story - there is only so much room for novelty in this genre - but more the way the whole film is made. Music is used, or not used, very creatively, suspense comes by following the main actor closely and often in silence, and everything just works. The story is being told in a coveted way without confusing anyone. There is a fair use of irony, and the acting throughout is good. The heroine might come over as a tad masculine, but she does a masculine job. No whiny scenes here.Overall maybe the best agent thriller this year, I am happy I went!

    Here's The Kicker...

With an old-school style and a pacing that never lets up the tension Haywire is a throbbing showcase for its lead star mixed Martial Arts fighter Gina Carano as operative-for-hire Mallory Kane. Right from the opening scene we know we're in a store for a special kind of action flick. This woman does all her own stunts and you're likely to be watching a second time through just to enjoy every punch of every smash cut of the movie.

Mallory Kane (Gina Carano) is one of the best operatives the government has. She's positively ruthless in her efficiency, always taking care of loose ends to ensure the success of missions. When hired to save a kidnapped journalist, she is alerted when he ends up dead and she becomes a target for elimination. Managing to dispatch the assassins who approach her, and befriending agency suit Alex Coblenz (Michael Douglas) she works her way up the food chain to the one who put the finger on her.

Looking back I remember my fascination with the old Avengers British TV show form the 60s and my secret thrill at watching Diana Rigg's Emma Peel lower the kibosh on some underestimating bad guy. I think every man thought that having a beautiful leather-clad beauty kick their brains in was the ultimate thrill. There's a lot of that same currency here as director Steven Soderburgh lovingly follows Carano through action territory.

There is a missing element in the movie that would lift it to a higher level. Carano never goes up against another female fighter and this would add considerable range and depth to the flick. There are also some stumbles in Carano's acting movements. She's not an actor, and Soderburgh smartly constructs scenes so that the woman can rely on primal emotional responses. Her character is a contract killer and the movie sticks to character interactions that emphasize the cold and calculating business of killing.

What Soderburgh's film smartly does is recall the feeling of the movies from the 70s and 80s that were essentially exposes on the secret kill squads that worked Cuba, and European soil in the name of Democracy. Soderburgh even goes so far as to create a visual palette that recalls the look of the super-35 MM film stock, and the available-lighting technique that was used during the day.

Soderburgh also allows the film to float off without resolving too resolutely to close the narrative. He's an intelligent director, and respects the brain power of the viewer enough to let us watch and put the pieces together on our own. Along the way he gives us some great action set-ups with Carano doing all her own stunts.

    Loved, loved, loved.

From the first scene to the last, loved this film. I read reviews that said Gina Carano was stiff and at times cold or emotionless- which I thought was perfect. It may have been due her lack of acting experience, but, for her role, it was ideal. An assassin (I can only imagine)isn't the Susie Sunshine type. Why would she be warm and engaging. I watched the film having no idea who she was- but thought wow- here's a new female action star I would watch again and again.

As far as the film, the story itself- a bit formulaic, but in way that was not insulting and the direction made the pieces fun to watch. The cinematography and speed of the action was dead on. While some might find the action jerky, I think that is what keeps you on edge. The fight scenes were great- no overly polished as a real fight would not be either.Overall, I am surprised the film did not do better.

    Bloody good

Plot line: what you'd expect from an action-thriller - pleasantly confusing, double crossing, main character (played by Gina Carrano) has to fight for her survival Acting: Absolutely fine in my opinion, I found that Carrano was charming, convincing and amusing Cinematography: Very cool, slightly different style to other action films, allowed you to see all the details necessary to really draw you in, slightly artier than other action films, none of that annoying trend for shaking the camera around so much you can't even see who is fighting who.

Action: BLOODY BRILLIANT, Carrano being big in the world of UFC obviously helped, all of the fighting was realistic, clever, beautifully choreographed but still felt raw and gritty. Left me on a nice adrenaline high.I'd recommend it, and will definitely be buying it when it comes out.

Steven Soderbergh Has Made The Best Action Film Ever.
    10/10

Steven Soderbergh Is A Master. "Haywire" Is An Excellent Film And Arguably The Great Action Film Ever. The Cast Is Extraordinary And Includes Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Bill Paxton, Michael Douglas, Channing Tatum, Antonio Banderas, And Gina Carano In Her Film Debut. The Action Is Riveting And Fluid. The Film Lacks The Choppy Editing Of Most Action Movies And Just Delivers Great Cinematic Fight Sequences. I Must Say That I Don't Care For Action Films, But I Absolutely Loved "Haywire".

The Film Features Some Of The Best Actors In The World. Gina Carano Is A Fantastic Action Heroine Who I Would Love To See More Of. Carano Is An MMA Fighter With No Acting Experience. Soderbergh Know This And He Contstructs The Film Accordingly By Playing To Carano's Strengths. I Loved The Film's Gorgeous Cinematography And The Brilliant Choreography. "Haywire" Is Soderbergh At His Very Best And Absolutely My Favorite Action Film In Cinema History.

Excellent, far better than Angelina Jolie

This is a must see. I saw trailers and was intrigued. I saw the cast and was sold. I watch dozens of movies each week and this was by far the best I have seen in months. Some reviewer said Gina's acting was stiff. Hardly. She was far better than Angelina Jolie could ever be. Why? Because she really knows how to fight. Every one of the actors who had to fight her in the movie said they were intimidated. From the interview with Ewan McGregor, he said that in the fight scene on the beach, he was supposed to swing at her and miss her head. Well, he swung, but hit her square on the side of the head and knocked her over. Then she came up and said "Are you OK?" That was hilarious. And the last ten seconds of the movie were the best. Antonio Banderas, who is a badass in many movies isn't so much in this one.

People who are addicted to explosions and whizzbang special effects probably won't like this. But if you like a good story with very well done fight sequences, realistically portrayed rather than endlessly splashing gallons of fake blood about, then this is for you. And, Malory is seriously bad-ass. Not the normal Hollywood trumped up actor narcissistic look at my abs or boobs bad-ass, but seriously believable bad-ass. A rare treat for anyone who's tired of the flash-bang chop-scene madness currently infecting the silver screens.

Warning: You may have to use your brain to follow what's going on in this movie. It's well thought out, portrayed, and has a quality ending.

Warning #2: There are no scenes in this entire action film where anyone is impossibly missed by a thundering shower of bullets. Everything in this film is intelligently choreographed and believable. Very well done. Even the landing of punches sound about like what you would hear if you were watching a fight rather than like M80s exploding whenever someone flicks a finger.

    Haywire: Great Movie

Finally, a well done, edgy, spy thriller has been put together in a strangely but well-done dark backdrop. Not only is there a dark feel because of the plot, the cinematography adds to the flavor in an excellent way. This movie's arrival is so uncanny because of what is going on politically in the world. The fact that intelligence agencies which, according to WikiLeaks, Private Contracting Companies, not the U.S. or British Governments are taking the active role in the war zones. This addresses, who wags the dog. Recommend but kids should be 16 y/o to see because of the violence and nature of plot line. Well written and so well directed, Bravo!
