Récompenses et nominations
Elle a été nommée aux Oscars 2008 dans la catégorie « meilleure actrice » pour le film Elizabeth : L'Âge d'or de Shekhar Kapur et dans la catégorie « meilleure actrice dans un second rôle » pour I'm Not There de Todd Haynes.
Couronnée d'un Oscar en 2005 pour son interprétation de Katharine Hepburn, dans Aviator, elle avait déjà été sélectionnée en 1999 pour son rôle de la reine Élisabeth Ire dans Elizabeth.
Elle a, en outre, reçu la Coupe Volpi pour la meilleure interprétation féminine à la 64e Mostra de Venise pour son rôle dans I'm Not There de Todd Haynes, dans lequel elle interprète le rôle d'un Bob Dylan androgyne (ce film est tarte!!), et le prix de Australian Film Institute pour Elizabeth : L'Âge d'or en 2007.
